Each material sheet is subject to tight squaring at 0.25 mm/metre (.01’’/yd). Generally, our plastic material sizes are even fairly higher than the dimensions announced. For you, this is the guarantee to benefit from the entire format actually purchased, even if the plate is clamped on the edges. The thickness of the different layers making up our materials is finely calibrated, and our recipes are perfectly mastered and executed by our engineers and technicians.
For Gravoply™ 2, Metallex™, Gravoply™ Laser and Gravoply™ Ultra: the top coat is only a few microns thin. For you, this is the possibility to achieve extremely fine and aesthetic engraving, minimise the production of chips or fumes and take advantage of your engraving machine’s highest speed and productivity, be it mechanical or laser powered.
Gravoply™ 1, Gravoglas™ 2-Plex™ and even Gravotac™: different layers calibrated at 250 microns are assembled by hot pressing in our workshops. Our products are not co-extruded, as this technique cannot guarantee regularity in thickness or material flatness. To obtain the best possible flatness, this "laminating" phase is made in very small batches, and even sometimes by the unit!

Our materials are protected individually by a "Gravograph"-personalised, resistant semi-adhesive protection film. This ensures that engraved or milled surfaces are preserved from pollution or alteration.
Each material sheet is also labeled with its reference, designation and production batch number. This ensures our Quality assurance system has the traceability information that is required in case of defect.

Gravograph started to produce its own consumables in 1963
Gravotech engraving material story begins in 1947: Norbert Schimmel, New Hermes (that would become Gravograph several years later) co-founder, starts New Hermes Plastics. This new division first focused on cut-to-size plastic engraving materials, an innovative offer on the engraving market.
In 1963 Gravograph introduced Gravoply™, a one-of-its-kind engravable plastic that can be bent when heated. With innovation and customer satisfaction as top priorities, Gravograph then decided to stop selling its engraving materials by weight and instead sell them in sheets. Engravers found it to be much more convenient; and the material division soon surpassed the parent company in sales!
Throughout the years Gravotech kept on listening closely to the market needs to provide it with modern and adapted materials. In 2019, we launched our successful range of engravable wood Laser Wood , which will be followed by various variations.
